Apple fruits are rich in antioxidants and full of fiber. Even if they are available all year round in supermarkets across Quebec, apples really are in season during fall.

If you ever feel tired in the afternoon, note that apples can give you as much energy as a coffee would! Its natural sugars can give a real boost to the body.

Rolled-up Apple “Pies”


4 servings


  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 whole-wheat bread slices
  • 1 or 2 medium sized apples, cut into cubes
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted


1) Preheat oven to 350ºC et cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2) In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon.
3) Flatten bread slices using your hands or a rolling pin.
4) On each bread slice, add some apple pieces and sprinkle about 1 tsp of sugar and cinamon mix.
5) Roll bread slices and brush with butter.
6) Place rolled-up bread slices on the baking sheet. Bake in oven for 15 minutes or until crisp and golden.
7) Serve hot with a scoop of vanilla iced yogurt.


Green Apple Muffins


For 12 muffins


  • ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 green apple, peeled and grated
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup plain greek yogurt


1) Preheat oven at 375ºC.
2) In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and sugar.
3) Add butter and mix well.
4) In a second bowl, mix the grated apple, egg and yogurt. Incorporate to dry ingredients.
5) Place mixture in lightly greased muffin tins or use muffin liners.
6) Cook for 20 minutes or until muffins are golden brown on top.


Slow Cooker Naya Zest Applesauce


Makes around 4 cups


  • 6 large apples (any kind will do!)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup Peach-nectarine Naya Zest
  • ¼ tsp salt


1) Peel apples and chop them into cubes.
2) Combine all ingredients directly in the slow cooker.
3) Cook on high for 4 hours. Stir twice during cooking.
4) If desired, puree the cooked applesauce using an immersion blender to obtain a smoother texture.
5) Store in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days or freeze to enjoy later.
