Our Story

Since 1986, Naya has been part of Quebecers’ daily lives, offering natural spring water sourced from the Laurentians. Discover the key moments that have shaped our history and evolution over the years.

1986

The Mirabel plant opens, and Naya spring water is introduced to the market. The name Naya comes from the word “naiads” — in mythology, naiads are water nymphs who guard rivers, fountains and springs.

1995

A historic year for Quebec and for Naya. While Quebecers vote against independence in the referendum, they say yes to Naya, which becomes Quebec’s number one natural spring water brand. It is also an opportunity for the brand to establish its active, sports-focused positioning with a new slogan: “Rage de vivre, soif de Naya.”

1999

More sport for the brand! A few visual changes are made to our packaging, while we continue to embody the spirit of “Rage de vivre, soif de Naya.”

2000

Naya continues to hydrate Canadians with a brand-new product: a delicious spring water with natural fruit flavours, no sugar and no calories, which would later become known as Naya Zest.

2005

SpongeBob SquarePants joins the 330 mL Aquakids packaging, bringing fun to kids and adults alike. Then, in 2012, we stayed hydrated with our Ice Age friends Scrat, Sid, Manny and Diego, making hydration fun for everyone.

2008

Quebec City celebrates its 400th anniversary, and Naya has reasons to celebrate too! With more than 20 years of history, Naya unveils a new logo and fresh packaging featuring the Laurentian Mountains.

2012

In 2012, things are moving at Naya. We introduce an innovative 600 mL format, unique to Naya, offering 20% more water with no additional plastic compared to a 500 mL bottle. The new bottle quickly becomes the most popular format in the Naya product line. At Naya, great ideas are always flowing!

2015

“Soif de vie” becomes Naya’s new brand signature. Through hydration, we promote a healthy lifestyle, reflecting Naya’s commitment to helping people live healthier lives. This authentic message is built around four key values: hydration, healthy eating, regular physical activity and environmental protection. These values are expressed through four guiding principles: Drink for health, Eat well, Get outside and Protect the planet. Naya’s new brand strategy puts consumers at the heart of the brand while highlighting values that are both universal and deeply personal.

2016

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Naya unveils new packaging featuring three colourful, playful labels inspired by the decade we were born in: the 1980s! Perfect timing—we were starting to miss those neon colours!

2017

Naya is proud to support Opération Enfant Soleil with the launch of Naya Mini. For every case of 15 x 330 mL bottles sold, Naya donates $0.25 to Opération Enfant Soleil. With Naya Mini, giving back is easy because “little miracles don’t happen alone.”

2021

2021 is a big year for Naya! We celebrate our 35th anniversary with special packaging featuring 35 bottles of 500 mL, including 5 free bottles. We also celebrate our fifth year of partnership with Opération Enfant Soleil. To mark the occasion, Naya donates $0.35 for every 6 x 1.5 L pack sold during spring 2021.

2021

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Naya becomes the OFFICIAL water of the Montreal Alouettes! The 750 mL sport format gets a fresh new look with a label featuring the colours of both Naya and the Alouettes. A new 6 x 750 mL pack featuring both brands also hits the market!

2022

The year gets off to a strong start for Naya with the introduction of the 8 L spring water format. The product becomes available at several points of sale, including most grocery stores and pharmacies across Quebec.

2025

A year of growth marked by Naya’s expansion into Ontario. Driven by its commitment to making natural spring water accessible to more people, Naya takes a major step forward in its growth. In 2025, the brand strategically expands into the Ontario market, establishing strong partnerships and increasing its presence with leading retailers such as Loblaws, Walmart and other key banners. Naya’s fresh, quality spring water is now available to an even wider audience, marking an important milestone in the brand’s journey beyond Quebec.

2026

Naya celebrates 40 years of history, purity and freshness. For four decades, Naya has been part of Canadians’ daily lives, providing natural spring water sourced directly from the Laurentians. In 2026, we celebrate 40 years of passion, innovation and respect for nature. Since our first bottling in Mirabel in 1986, our mission has remained the same: to offer exceptional-quality natural spring water. This 40th anniversary is an opportunity to honour our roots, thank our dedicated teams and, above all, celebrate the trust of our consumers who choose Naya every day.
